Alvin's (Grandpa) Health

Dear All, This is an update on Alvin's health. Last Wednesday we went in for his 6th round of chemotherapy, but he was having some problems with his lungs. As a result, his primary care physician was called and he was put in the hospital. That day we learned he had pneumonia in his right lung. Since this time (7 days now) his pneumonia has spread and is now in the left lung and he has had a bronchoscopy to get tissue from the lung to determine the nature of teh pneumonia. None of the 4 anti-biotics he is on, nor the anti-fungal medicine are helping to diminish the problem. He was put into ICU after the procedure for observation and to help with his breathing. He has now formed a blood clot in his left arm and they are working to solve this problem by thinning the blood (it had to be thickened for the procedure). This is a little scary. This email is to let you know what is happening and to ask for your special prayers in helping Alvin get better...he needs them and so do I. We love you all and will keep you posted. Barbara

Haircut/ State Convention

I have not posted pictures for a really long long time! Congratulations to Becky for making it out of the convention and making it to a primary. For those of you who don't know...you have to get 40% of the votes and mom got 40.38. Good job! Also, I got my haircut yesterday. I cut off twelve inches. My hair is really short! That's all for now. I'll post pictures from Sarah's graduation later.

Last Dance

Sarah recently had her very last High School dance. She went with her "friend" (that's for you Grandpa) Will Burton. Thanks to the help of Grandma, Sarah's dress was finished and beautiful in time for the date to come get her. There were no silly jokes about shoes with this dance but Sarah looked very beautiful. Can you believe that this was her last dance!!!!!!!!!

Here are some pictures that were posted on the Triathlon's website. Sorry, they may be small because I got them off of the internet. Doesn't Beata look like a winner!

Yesterday was Sarah's Sweethearts dance at her school.  This time, she helped quite a bit with the dress. She took a boy named Michael Hughes.  The look we were going for was 60's slash 50's dress. It turned out to be super cute. On Saturday, mom and dad went to Nordstroms to look for some shoes. The pair Sarah wanted weren't there but my mom and dad decided to play a little joke. When they came home, they explained to her that the shoes she wanted didn't come in her size and so she would have to wear the ones they bought her. The shoes were hot pink patent shoes with a peep toe and they were super cute... the only downfall being that they had a 3 inch heel. Sarah's reply was "I don't want to wear high heels". My parents went along with this for about 5 minutes and then my mom said "OR, you could wear these shoes." It was so funny. The minute she saw the other box, she became a lot more relaxed.
